Constructed by former IPC affiliate IPSA Group PLC, Newcastle Cogeneration provides 16 MWe effective capacity through the installation of:

  1. Two gas turbines (GT) of 6.25MWe capacity;
  2. One steam turbine (ST) of 6 MWe capacity.

Electricity generated is sold to Eskom and wheeled through the Newcastle municipal system. The project has also installed two 55 ton/hr boilers. These generate steam to three occupants of the Karbochem site:
